Family Support, Early Intervention
and Youth Work
At Chard Community Hub, we believe every child and young person deserves the best start in life. That’s why our family support and youth work services are here to make a real difference, helping families overcome challenges and build brighter futures.
What We Do:
Early Support for Families: We work with parents and carers to address disadvantage before it becomes a barrier. By offering practical advice and emotional support, we help families feel confident and connected.
Activities for Children & Young People: From fun learning sessions to creative workshops, our activities encourage early learning, boost engagement, and give young people a safe space to grow and thrive.
Strengthening Parental Confidence: Parenting isn’t always easy, but you’re not alone. Our team provides guidance and resources to help parents feel empowered and supported.
Breaking the Cycle of Poverty & Exclusion: By tackling challenges early, we reduce the long-term impact of poverty and social isolation on children and families—helping everyone reach their full potential.
Megan’s Work in Parental Support
Megan leads our parental support initiatives, offering one-to-one guidance and group sessions that build confidence and resilience. She helps parents navigate challenges, access resources, and develop positive strategies for family life. Megan’s warm, practical approach ensures that every parent feels heard and supported.
Working Together with Local Partners
We know that strong communities are built through collaboration. That’s why Chard Community Hub works closely with organisations and local partners to extend our reach and impact.
Christmas Present Appeal: Each year, we join forces with local groups to ensure that no child goes without a gift at Christmas. This initiative brings joy to families facing hardship and shows the power of community working together.
PANDAS: Monthly support group with trained volunteers, for parental mental well-being.
Young Somerset: Weekly Youth Hub with welcoming and safe youth workers and weekly Little Explorers sessions for pre-school aged children.
SWISH C Card Scheme: Our volunteers are trained by SWISH to deliver C Card support for young people.
Shared Projects: By partnering with local organisations, we can offer more activities, resources, and opportunities for families and young people in Chard.
